Finally!

At long last, Summer in Toronto is setting in, finally! Now more worries of West Nile virus and all that.

But more than that. This Sunday marks the appearance of the ad and review link for Dream Magus Of Babylon in the Sunday New York Times Book Review.

This past weekend being a long weekend in these parts, I took to Toronto's Mount Pleasant Cemetery and enjoyed a day with friends, powerwalking, having a picnic and blissing out. Of course, it does go without saying that we made a pilgrimage to Stephen's plaque.

Too, we hung out and left flowers and pine cones at Glenn Gould's tiny perfect plaque, where there were not one, or two, but four separate bouquets left to the great artist, each in varying degrees of dehydration or waste.

I've begun planning the events for July 21st 2007, which will mark the 60th anniversary of Stephen's birth. To be sure, there will be a tribute to Glenn Gould worked into the celebrations, which undoubtedly will include a visit to Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

All else progresses less stressfully now that www.nevissa.ca has been finally revamped and turned into something remotely resembling what I was after.

For now, the drill of editing 24 volumes of Into The Greenhouse: Dreams. The Art of Living Limitlessly, endures. Vol II should be in the marketplace by mid to late July 2007, just in time for me to take a breather and celebrate the diamond jubilee of Stephen's birth.

For now it's garden parties, summer reading; when I can, Pride!, Caribana!, and my birthday; Leo Rat 02/08/60!

Grooving In The 514!

How beautiful was Montréal? I fell in love with the place yet again.

What always does it form e is going to the top of the Notre Dame Cemetery and looking due west to the St. Joseph Oratory. This single vantage point has special resonance for me, because when I was a child I had a flying dream which saw me moving at great speeds to this magnificent temple atop a mount.

I thought that it was the Parthenon, but then my mother assured me that it couldn't be from my description and scribbled attempt at sketching. She told me that perhaps it was St. Peter's in Rome as the ancient city was famous for its three hills.

I had such a wonderful time and of course, I made it to www.ovarium.com where Martin Forget the truly gifted masseur rapelled his elbows and thumbs down the knotted cabling muscles in my back, taking away all that stress.

Montréal was great! Good to have seen old friends and had time to make a few more. And quelle surprise the place is going through a bit of a building boom right now....

Get your degorgeous mugs, and more, here....

Living In The 613!

I'd long forgotten how powerful our beautiful nation's capital, truly is.

Standing at the Belvedere lookout across the river and down to, La Belle Province, I was struck by the mighty power of the Ottawa River, yet again.

After too much rains and even snows in mid-April, the River surged by choppy crests of snowy white spitting violently across its majestic face.

I loved the grandeur of being across the river at the Canadian Museum of Civilisation and looking at the towering hill crowned by the Parliament Buildings and the refurbished Parliamentary Library.

But more than that, I was there chiefly to take in the sublime beauty of my favourite artist; other than George Hawken, of course, Robert Davidson.

It was really neat seeing pieces which are in my collection hung at the stately National Gallery.

Alas, the National Portrait Gallery is still being redesigned, so one less chance at being greatly inspired.

Apart from that I saw at least three items that I'm definitely acquiring in the next little while.

Next time, mini book launch in the 514! How neat is that?
